A black and white impression from the Danish capital Copenhagen.
The photo shows the sculpture Lurblæserne (“The Lur Blowers”), which has stood on Rådhusplads in the center of Copenhagen since 1914.
Lurs are considered typical wind instruments of the Nordic Bronze Age, probably with an important cultic significance. From archaeological finds and also representations in Bronze Age rock carvings, it is assumed that lurs were played in pairs – as the Copenhagen sculpture depicts.
