Discover Northern Italy & Tuscany - with inspiring photos and wall art by Alexander Voss

A black and white impression from Venice.

The photo shows a view over the roofs of the Sestiere San Marco to the domes of St. Mark’s Basilica.
St. Mark’s Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) was built in the 11th century based on models from Byzantine architecture; it was the central state sanctuary until the end of the Venetian Republic in 1797.
Today, St. Mark’s Basilica is one of Venice’s most famous buildings and landmarks.

Another landmark rises in the background: the Campanile of San Giorgio Maggiore.
