The photo shows a panoramic view from the Jardim do Morro – over the tiled roofs of the port wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia and the river Douro to the old town of Porto with the picturesque Ribeira.
To the right of the picture, the Ponte Dom Luís I spans the Douro. The wrought-iron truss bridge was opened in 1886 and has been Porto’s architectural landmark ever since.
