The magnificent Tartini Square in Piran. The photo was taken at dusk and shows Piran in the magical light of the Blue Hour.
Originally, there was a harbour basin here in the centre of the Slovenian Adriatic town. It was not until the end of the 19th century that the harbour was filled in and the newly created square named after the composer Giuseppe Tartini, who was born here in Piran.
Since Piran is bilingual, Tartini Square is officially called Tartinijev Trg in Slovenian and Piazza Tartini in Italian. Whichever language you prefer, a summer evening on Tartini Square in the wonderfully Venetian atmosphere of Piran simply enchants every visitor.
